The J. W. Fulbright Commission is a bilateral organization for educational, research and cultural exchanges between the United States and the Slovak Republic. The Commission services include grant programs and advising and information services.

Summer School at University of Economics in Bratislava, Slovak Republic

 

The University of Economics in Bratislava is launching its first year of Summer School on Central European Studies. The main focus of the Summer School is aimed at lessons learned by the Slovak Republic and other Central European countries during the transitional period in the 90-ties.

A World Brought Together By Knowledge

Each year the Fulbright Commission awards grants up to 20 U.S. and Slovak students and professionals in various programs. The grants and awards are administered in accordance with worldvide regulations guided by principles of open competition, academic excellence and professional promise. The Commission also cooperates with other institutions in grant programs outside the scope of the Fulbright Program but maintaining its principles.

Essential part of the Commission is its Advising Center, which offers objective, unbiased information about the full range of higher education and other study opportunities in the United States. The Advising Center of the Commission has approximately 4 000 client contacts annually seeking advising information. The center belongs to the worldwide educational advising network of the U. S. Department of State called EducationUSA.

The Commission co-operates closely with the InfoUSA Centers in Banská Bystrica, Bratislava and Košice. The role of the centers is to broaden the range of information of the United States, it's history, science, culture, people, legislative, political system, commerce... and to address a wide range of people, specialists and lay persons alike, who have an interest about given problems and their search for information about the United States.
